Commandant of the Marine Corps Gen. James F. Amos and his wife Bonnie observe flight operations from the landing signal officer platform of the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). Gen. and Mrs. Amos joined the Marines of VMFA-323 aboard Ronald Reagan for the day to celebrate the 235th birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps, which included the traditional cake-cutting and a reading of the first Marine Corps birthday message from the 13th Marine Corps Commandant Gen. John A. Lejeune, originally published on Nov. 1, 1921.
