Cpl. Ryder Sartor, a surveyor with 3rd Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, sets up a survey control point using a position navigation unit while surveying the range for annual artillery training here Feb. 1. The survey team established several control points at the range to establish the direction of fire. 3rd Battalion, 12th Marines is conducting live-fire artillery training to maintain operational readiness of the artillery battalion in support of the U.S. – Japan security alliance.
