Balad, Iraq -- JPADS is a new airdrop system used by C-130 crews to drop cargo at higher altitudes with improved accuracy. This wind sonde sensor is dropped at high altitudes over a drop zone to measure the winds prior to an actual cargo drop. This allows C-130 crews to drop cargo at safe distances from enemy fire.
