Micheal Smith, left, rifleman, Company K, 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, Marine Rotational Force Darwin, has an Aboriginal design painted on his face during Indigenous Australian culture classes conducted as part of Exercise Kowari 2017 Aug. 23, 2017. The soldiers and Marines also took part in boomerang throwing and hut building to familiarize them with Indigenous Australian culture. Kowari is an annual training activity held in Australia to reinforce trilateral military relationships, trust and co-operation between Australia, China and the United States.
