170906-N-UX013-142 NAVAL BASE GUAM (Sept. 06, 2017) Sailors and Marines aboard the amphibious dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48) lower a Humvee, assigned to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (31st MEU), onto the flight deck following Marine exercises ashore. Ashland is in Guam for a scheduled voyage repair availability while Marines assigned to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (31st MEU) conduct unit-level training ashore. Ashland is operating in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region to enhance partnerships and be a ready-response force for any type of contingency.
