ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands (Sept. 11, 2017) A U.S. Navy beachmaster assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) signals to a Navy landing craft utility carrying Marine Corps supplies for landing operations in order to aid in the humanitarian effort for victims of Hurricane Irma in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Sept. 11, 2017. The DoD is supporting FEMA, the lead federal agency, in helping those affected by Hurricane Irma to minimize suffering and is one component of the overall whole-of-government response effort.
