ARABIAN GULF (Sept. 8, 2017) The Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Princeton (CG-59) conducts a formation group sail with the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68), the French navy air defense destroyer FS Jean Bart (D615) and the Royal Australian Navy frigate HMAS Newcastle (FFG 06), Sept. 8, 2017, demonstrating combined interoperability and multinational partnership in support of Commander, Task Force 50 operations in the Arabian Gulf. Nimitz is deployed in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. While in this region, the ship and strike group are conducting maritime security operations to reassure allies and partners, preserve freedom of navigation, and maintain the free flow of commerce.
