Fort Bliss, Texas- An instructor at the Medical Simulation Training Center (MSTC) explains how to make an improvised chest seal for a sunken chest wound on a mannequin to Soldiers as part of a Combat Lifesaver course September 11-14 here. The 40-hour course provides the Soldiers with realistic scenarios related to current battlefield tactics. The course consist of tourniquet placement, nasopharyngeal airways (NPA), and performing needle chest decompression (NCD) to treat tension pneumothorax or a collapsed lung.
