Fort Bliss, Texas- An instructor at the Medical Simulation Training Center (MSTC) explains the importance of needle placement during a needle chest decompression (NCD) to Soldiers as part of a Combat Lifesaver course September 11-14 here. The 40-hour course provides the Soldiers with realistic scenarios related to current battlefield tactics. The course consist of tourniquet placement, nasopharyngeal airways (NPA), and performing an NCD to treat tension pneumothorax or a collapsed lung.
