SAN DIEGO (Sept. 15, 2017) Chief Personnel Specialist Tiana Conner receives her anchors from her family during the USS Makin Island (LHD 8) chief petty officer pinning ceremony at Liberty Station, formerly known as Naval Training Center San Diego. Twenty-seven Sailors were promoted to chief petty officer during the ceremony. Makin Island is currently in dry dock at General Dynamics National Steel and Shipbuilding Company (NASSCO) for a depot-level maintenance availability.
