U.S. Navy HM3 John Bustamante, a Killeen, Texas native, is the lead preventive medicine representative of the Sri Lanka Health Engagement (SLHE) 17 team. SLHE-17, conducted from 9-23 Sep, 2017 at Naval Base Welisara, Sri Lanka, the U.S. and Sri Lanka navies participate in preventive medicine subject matter expert exchanges in order to improve regional interoperability between U.S. and Sri Lanka medical forces. Bustamante joined the Navy to be a corpsman in 2014 and is currently with 3d Medical Battalion, 3d Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force in Okinawa, Japan.
