Coast Guard Petty Officer 2nd Class Jeffrey Bernard checks temperature and pressure readings of the onboard cycloconverter, during an engineering round aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Healy, while the crew is underway in the Arctic, Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017.

The onboard cycloconverters, which are cooled with deionized distilled water, allow for the crew to vary the frequency at which the onboard motors are operation.
