Coast Guard Petty Officer 2nd Class Jeffrey Bernard cleans explosion and cam shaft covers on a main diesel engine during an engineering round aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Healy while the crew is underway in the Arctic, Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017.

Removing the lube oil from the lower area of the engine is part of regular maintenance that is conducted to reduce the chance of fire hazards.
