EDINBURG, Texas - (Oct. 4, 2017) Fort Worth, Texas, native, Interior Communications Electrician 2nd Class Karen Quepons assigned to Navy Recruiting Station South Austin, joined by other recruiters of Navy Recruiting District San Antonio, discusses grassroots perspectives on opportunities, benefits, and careers in the Navy to students during Latina Day at the 2017 Hispanic Engineering, Science and Technology Week (HESTEC) held on the campus of the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley. HESTEC is a nationally recognized model for promoting STEM careers to students of all ages. Now in its 16th year, the program has been recognized as a “Bright Spot in Hispanic Education” by the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics.
