171008-N-XN177-062 YOKOSUKA, Japan (October 8, 2017) – Sailors on board the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers USS Stethem (DDG 63) render honors as their sister ship USS Fitzgerald (DDG 62) passes while leaving Dry Dock 4 at Fleet Activities (FLEACT) Yokosuka to move to a new position pier-side. Fitzgerald will remain pier-side until it a heavy lift vessel returns it to the United States for repairs to damage suffered during a collision with a merchant vessel June 17th. FLEACT Yokosuka provides, maintains, and operates base facilities and services in support of 7th Fleet's forward-deployed naval forces, 71 tenant commands, and 24,000 military and civilian personnel.
