CAMP HANSEN, OKINAWA, Japan— Lance Cpl. Isaias Ruiz presents his dishes to the judges during a Food Service Specialist of the Quarter competition Oct. 31 aboard Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan. These competitions show the professionalism of the food service specialist Marines, who stepped up and volunteered to compete. The competitors were judged on: serving methods and presentation, portion size, nutritional balance, menu and ingredient compatibility, creativity and flavor, texture and doneness. Ruiz is a food service specialist with Marine Wing Support Squadron 171, Marine Aircraft Group 12, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
