U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Joshua Lail, an explosive ordnance disposal technician deployed from the 4th Civil Engineer Squadron, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C., uses the control unit to command a talon robot from inside a mine-resistance ambush-protected vehicle, while responding to an IED threat outside of Forward Operating Base Azizullah, Afghanistan, May 5. A 40 pound jug of homemade explosives was found at a checkpoint outside of FOB Azizullah, which was eventually destroyed with the help from the Talon robot and prevented the possibility of lives being put in danger from the 40 pound jug of HME.
