Explosive ordnance disposal technicians, assigned to the 332nd Expeditionary
Civil Engineer Squadron, unload and prepare thousands of pounds of munitions
for a controlled detonation Sept. 22, 2017, in Southwest Asia. The purpose
of the exercise was to dispose of expired, or otherwise unserviceable,
munitions gathered from U.S. and coalition forces in the region. Safely
detonating the ordnance avoids the buildup of dangerous stockpiles and saves
the cost of shipping it elsewhere. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman
