Maj. Chase Scarborough, an Ohio Army National Guard dermatologist participating in the PAMBALA medical exercise, entertains children outside one of the field hospital clinics in the village of Vale do Paraiso during phase 2 of the exercise Dec. 11, 2017, in Bengo Province, Angola. PAMBALA is the first-ever trilateral combined medical engagement to take place in the Republic of Angola, highlighted by a four-day clinical operations mission focusing on services like preventative medicine, pediatrics, family practice, dermatology, optometry, dentistry, and obstetrics and gynecology at various field hospitals in the province. The historic engagement aims to build the foundation for future engagements between the U.S. and Angola, as well as enhance the 11-year partnership the Ohio National Guard maintains with Serbia, through the National Guard State Partnership Program.
