Henry Gibson 2nd platoon leader of the same unit, survey a barricade called an abatis at Canadian Forces Base, New Brunswick, Canada, August 17th, 2017. The goal of an abatis is to block or slow down the movement of an enemy through a particular area. To create the abatis the Soldiers strategically place C-4 charges on trees so when the charges detonate, the trees fall across the road.
