U.S. Navy Divers assigned to Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit (MDSU) 1 prepare for a dive while conducting underwater recovery operations with the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC). Both JPAC and MDSU-1 are deployed off the north central coast of Vietnam searching for evidence of Americans that remain unaccounted-for from the Vietnam War. The mission of JPAC is to achieve the fullest possible accounting of all Americans missing as a result of the nation's past conflicts.
