The wife of Sgt. Shawn Springer, a reconnaissance Marine with 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, fires an M4 carbine during the 1st Recon Bn. Jane Wayne Day at Camp Margarita, Calif., June 3. Wives and loved ones of the battalion's Marines and sailors also shot the Berretta 9 mm pistol and the M40A3 sniper rifle, and raced a combat rubber reconnaissance craft, also known as a "Zodiac," during the family readiness event. Springer, 24, is from Knoxville, Tenn.
