Sergeant Harrison A. Ashong, drill instructor, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, corrects a recruit during a series commander’s inspection at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, March 1. Ashong found a deficiency with the recruit’s rifle and explained to the recruit why it was unsatisfactory. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Fox Company is scheduled to graduate April 13.
