Sergeant Jonathan L. Dean, drill instructor, Fox Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, grabs a recruit’s rifle during a series commander inspection at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, March 1. Dean grabbed the recruit’s rifle so he could inspect it for any deficiencies and the level of cleanliness. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Fox Company is scheduled to graduate April 13.
