Larry Magaoay, Casualty Assistance Center mortuary affairs coordinator, left, U.S. Army 1st Lt. Bradley Patterson, center, and Benjamin Soria, Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) lead evidence coordinator, secure the remains of Sgt. 1st Class Harry E. Harkness during a chain of custody event at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, March 9, 2018. Patterson came to the DPAA Laboratory to collect the remains of Harkness who was his grandfather and a member of Company L, 3rd Battalion, 8th Calvary Regiment when he was killed in the winter of 1950 during combat near Unsan, North Korea. Patterson will serve as the Special U.S. Army Escort for his grandfather during transport to the final resting place for Harkness. DPAA conducts global search, recovery and laboratory operations to provide the fullest possible accounting for our missing personnel to their families and the nation. (U.S. Air Force photo by Tech.
