180306-N-YJ378-0041 PACIFIC OCEAN (March 6, 2018) Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Andrew Kim from Brea, Calif., fires the M2HB .50-caliber machine gun from the deck of the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock USS Anchorage (LPD 23) during a live-fire exercise as part of USS Essex (LHD 2) Amphibious Ready Group’s (ARG) Surface Warfare Advanced Tactical Training (SWATT) exercise. Anchorage is underway training with the ships of the Essex ARG in the Navy’s first ARG SWATT. SWATT is led by Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC), and is designed to increase war fighting proficiency, lethality, and interoperability of participating units.
