Spc. Jose Velazquez, of Chicago, Ill., installs an ammunition can for his M-2 .50 caliber machine gun in preparation for a convoy escort mission in Iraq June 3, 2011. Velazquez, a motor transport operator with the 377th Transportation Company, has conducted these types of missions for the past 10 months. The Fort Bliss-based company is deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation New Dawn. Their primary mission is to help facilitate the responsible drawdown and withdraw of U.S. forces in Iraq through convoy escort and logitical convoy operations.
