180322-N-TI567-064 STENNIS SPACE CENTER, Miss. -- Maj. Gen. David Coffman, director of expeditionary warfare for the staff of the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, receives a brief from a Naval Small Craft Instruction and Technical Training School Technical Welding and Applied Repairs instructor at the Stennis Space Center in Mississippi.
Coffman, who toured NAVSCIATTS' facilities, provides oversight of CNO staff responsibilities pertaining to amphibious lift, mine warfare, naval fire support, and other missions essential to Expeditionary Warfare. His previous assignments as a general officer include deputy director of operations for the National Military Command Center on the Joint Staff, commander, U.S. Marine Corps Forces South; deputy commander, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Command; deputy commanding general, I Marine Expeditionary Force; and commanding general of 1st Marine Expeditionary Brigade.
TWAR is an eight-week course that provides select international military and law enforcement personnel with the knowledge and skills required to safely make structural repairs and perform preventative maintenance to aluminum, steel, fiberglass and rubber components in accordance with applicable factory technical manuals and approved doctrine.
NAVSCIATTS is a Security Cooperation schoolhouse operating under U.S. Special Operations Command in support of Foreign Security Assistance and Geographic Combatant Commanders' Theater Security Cooperation priorities.
