PACIFIC OCEAN (March 29, 2018) Culinary Specialist 1st Class LaToya Farrish, a native of Caswell County, N.C. and the 2018 Pacific Fleet Sailor of the Year, signs an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist personnel qualification standard for Culinary Specialist 3rd Class Crystal Wilkins, a native of Jackson, Miss., on the mess deck of the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2) during an amphibious squadron and Marine expeditionary unit (MEU) integration (PMINT) exercise. PMINT is a training evolution between Essex Amphibious Ready Group and 13th MEU, which allows Sailors and Marines to train as a cohesive unit in preparation for their upcoming deployment.
