Chief Petty Officer Ryan Oakley, Navy diver, right, the leading chief petty officer of Mobile Diving Salvage Unit 2, monitors his stopwatch while Chief Petty Officer William Goold, Navy diver, also with MDSU 2, monitors the gauges during a pressure test on special programs candidates. The chamber simulates the pressure of being underwater and tests the candidate’s ability to clear their ears during a dive. MDSU 2 is attached to Commander Task Group 56.1, to provide maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
