TORBOLE, Italy -- U.S. Army Veteran Rick "Ranger Rick" Tscherne stands in front of his Jeep "Betsy", named for his Mother, at the finish line of the Col. Darby 40 Mile Ranger Challenge. Tscherne is credited with starting the memorial event challenge. Participants must complete a 40 mile route in 12 hours or less, honoring Col. William Darby and 25 other Soldiers from 10th Mountain Division who were among the last Americans to be killed in action in the European theater of WWII.
