Pāhoa, Hawaii, May 19, 2018 – Road impacted by one of several earthquakes during the Kīlauea volcanic eruption, causing an 80-feet drop into the ground. The residential area of Leilani Estates has been evacuated and is monitored by local authorities with support from the Hawaii National Guard. The guardsmen are providing around-the-clock presence and guidance to evacuees. FEMA staff are on the ground to support local officials with life-saving emergency protective measures, debris removal, and the repair, replacement, or restoration of disaster-damaged publicly-owned facilities.
