Pāhoa, Hawaii, May 20, 2018 – U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Environmental Response Team use pH test strips to track the amount of acid rain in the air after the Kīlauea volcanic eruption. As part of a FEMA mission-assignment, EPA is working with the Hawaii Department of Health to help keep residents safe by installing air monitoring stations, which provide data on sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, and particulate levels.
