Maj. Gen. Thomas Conant, the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing commanding general, talks with Coast Guard Cutter Edisto crew members at Coast Guard Sector San Diego Aug. 18. Conant visited the Coast Guardsmen to thank them for their assistance in rescuing two F/A-18 pilots in the early hours of Aug. 11. Coast Guard, Navy and 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing units all assisted in the search after communication with the aircrew was lost.
