Sgt. Maj. Don W. Gallagher, the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing sergeant major, talks with Coast Guardsmen at Coast Guard Sector San Diego Aug. 18. Gallagher and Maj. Gen. Thomas Conant, the 3rd MAW commanding general, visited the Coast Guardsmen to thank them for their assistance in rescuing two F/A-18 pilots in the early hours of Aug. 11. Coast Guard, Navy and 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing units all assisted in the search after communication with the aircrew was lost.
