Justin Batt (right), director, Harbor Defense Museum, Fort Hamilton, New York, talks with Tom Trombone, museum volunteer, May 9, 2018. Batt discovered the history of U.S. Army World War I Soldier, Gunner First Class Angelo A. Rizzo, a radioman with the 59th Artillery, Coastal Artillery Corps. Rizzo’s artifacts are on exhibit at the museum, and among other items include his diary and a map that Batt and his staff recreated to document Rizzo’s journey during the war. The U.S. Army is celebrating Soldiers like Rizzo, and all those that served during World War I, by commemorating the U.S. Army’s entrance into the war. (U.S. Army photo by Master Sgt. Jeremy D. Crisp).
