Christopher Wendland, commander of I Corps, 17th Field Artillery Brigade and lead of the U.S. Army Multi Domain Task Force pilot program briefs the capabilities of the Multi Domain Task Force to joint and combined forces attending the fires symposium during Rim of the Pacific exercise on Fort Shafter, Hawaii, July 2. RIMPAC 18 provides a unique training opportunity for the MDTF pilot program that allows the U.S. Army to integrate with joint and combined allies and partners to further develop multi domain operation concepts. Twenty-five nations, 46 ships, five submarines, about 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 27 to Aug. 2 in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. The world’s largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security of the world’s oceans.
