180714-G-ZV557-1178 PACIFIC OCEAN (July 14, 2018) Coastguardsmen aboard the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Bertholf (WMSL 750) hook up a fuel hose from the Military Sealift Command ship USNS Carl Brashear (T-AKE 7) during a refueling-at-sea operation July 14 during the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise. Twenty-five nations, 46 ships and five submarines, and about 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 27 to Aug. 2 in and around the Hawaiian Island and Southern California. The world’s largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among the participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world’s oceans.
