To accommodate the arrival of an additional recovery team, Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) personnel, augmentees, and local workers expand their support structures at an excavation site on Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands, July 21, 2018. Local citizens and officials played an essential role working alongside DPAA personnel during excavation operations in search of missing U.S. Marines lost during the first allied offensive in the Pacific Theater of World War II. The Agency’s mission is to provide the fullest possible accounting for our missing personnel to their families and the nation. (U.S. Marine Corps photo illustration by Sgt. Kelly L.
