ATLANTIC OCEAN (Sept. 13, 2018) Aviation Support Equipment Technician 1st Class Jandry Sanchez inserts an IV into Boatswain's Mate 3rd Class Malachi Barnes as Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Zureen Lucio observes for safety during medical training in the operating room of the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3). U.S. Naval Forces Northern Command deployed Kearsarge, along with embarked elements of the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit and the Expeditionary Strike Group 2 command element, to be positioned to provide Defense Support to Civil Authorities from the sea in response to Hurricane Florence, should support be requested.
