SAN ANTONIO – (Sept. 14, 2018) After six weeks of training, Chief Machinist’s Mate Jaewlaye Sherman of Monrovia, Liberia, assigned to Navy Recruiting District (NRD) San Antonio was promoted to the rank of chief petty officer during a pinning ceremony held on the campus of the University of the Incarnate Word. Pinning on Sherman’s chief insignias were his wife, Olivia, their children, and Navy Chief Counselors Juan Ramirez and Kevin Jones. At the ceremony’s conclusion, active duty, retired, and former chief petty officers “Manned the Rails” and saluted Sherman as he passed through the side boys and was welcomed into the NRD Chief’s Mess.
