180917-N-AO674-1006 ATLANTIC OCEAN (Sept. 17, 2018) The crew of a MV-22 Osprey attached to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 264 prepare to take off from the flight deck of the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) for flight operations to maintain proficiency and readiness. U.S. Naval Forces Northern Command deployed Kearsarge, along with embarked elements of the 22nd MEU and the Expeditionary Strike Group 2 command element, to be positioned to provide Defense Support to Civil Authorities from the sea in response to Hurricane Florence, should support be requested.
