180917-N-AO674-1037 ATLANTIC OCEAN (Sept. 17, 2018) Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Handling) 3rd Class John Dominguez signals to the pilots of a MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter attached to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 26 as it takes off from the flight deck of the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) to conduct an aerial assessment of coastal areas affected by Hurricane Florence in support of the Joint Forces Land Component. U.S. Naval Forces Northern Command deployed Kearsarge, along with embarked elements of the 22nd MEU and the Expeditionary Strike Group 2 command element, to be positioned to provide Defense Support to Civil Authorities from the sea in response to Hurricane Florence, should support be requested.
