180917-N-AO674-1076 ATLANTIC OCEAN (Sept. 17, 2018) Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Handling) 3rd Class John Dominguez salutes the pilots of a MV-22 Osprey as it takes off from the flight deck of the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) for flight operations to maintain proficiency and readiness. U.S. Naval Forces Northern Command deployed Kearsarge, along with embarked elements of the 22nd MEU and the Expeditionary Strike Group 2 command element, to be positioned to provide Defense Support to Civil Authorities from the sea in response to Hurricane Florence, should support be requested.(U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Michael R.
