U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Justin Perran, a joint terminal attack controller, is currently deployed to Forward Operating Base Spin Boldak, Afghanistan. Perran, who calls Tallahassee, Fla., home, is on his third deployment since Joining the Air Force four years ago. State side, Perran is assigned to the 5th Air Support Operations Squadron, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash. "The thing I love most about this deployment is that I get to be offensive in the fight. We don't just support the mission, we make things happen." Tactical Air Control Party members provide assistance and expertise in planning and controlling combat air resources. They also operate and supervise communication nets to support Army ground maneuvers.
