U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Robert Canales, a 773d Logistics Readiness Squadron combat mobility technician, secures a heavy air drop platform at the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, drop zone Oct. 3, 2018. When air drop training occurs, combat mobility technicians are called upon to operate as malfunction officers at the drop zone. In addition to scouting, technicians are also responsible to recover the loads using specific field-packing methods for secure transport back to the rigging facility.
