PORT OF SUVA, Fiji (Oct. 14, 2018) Cmdr. Andy Strickland, commanding officer of Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Shoup (DDG 86), talks with Cmdr. Ledua Yaco, Republic of Fiji Military Forces, and Lt. Cmdr. William Hinson, on the bridgewing as the ship pulls into the Port of Suva, Fiji Oct. 14, 2018. Shoup is currently participating in the Oceania Maritime Security Initiative (OMSI) program, a Secretary of Defense program leveraging Department of Defense assets transiting the region to increase the Coast Guard’s maritime domain awareness, ultimately supporting its maritime law enforcement operations in Oceania.
