A recruit with Lima Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, prepares to compete during Pugil Sticks III at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Oct. 16. The recruits receive a safety brief and protective gear prior to entering the pit. The recruits implemented Marine Corps Martial Arts Program techniques throughout the event. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Lima Company is scheduled to graduate Nov. 30.
