A recruit from Lima Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, crawls under barbed wire during the Bayonet Assault Course at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Oct. 16. The recruits were instructed to keep the barbed wire away from their faces by using their rifles and gloves. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Lima Company is scheduled to graduate Nov. 30.
