Brig. Gen. Gary Volesky, 1st Cavalry Division deputy commanding general, pins the Purple Heart on Sgt. Christopher Weber of Ames, Iowa, at Forward Operating Base Salerno, Nov. 5. Weber, who is with Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 1st Battalion, 6th Field Artillery Regiment, suffered a concussion when an improvised explosive device exploded ten meters from his position, April 22.
